The Peacemaker started his dj career in Kansas City, MO in 1997 after a few years of interest in electronic music as a fan. After a year of buying house and breakbeats, the Peacemaker found his true love, drum & bass, in 1998. Early dj exploits included promoting, hosting, and djing at rave events throughout the midwest, primarily in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Texas. A flyer portfolio reaching back to 1998 is available on request.
The Peacemaker took on his dj moniker during his move to San Diego as a tattooist in 1999. While en route, he was mulling over the crisscross of Reggae culture, rave culture, and American Wild West themes that are found scattered throughout the jungle scenescape. The word ‘peacemaker’ crossed his mind, and he began to wonder which of his dj friends might adopt this moniker. Then it occurred to him that ‘The Peacemaker’ reflects his style, personality and aesthetic tastes perfectly. Thus, The Peacemaker was born. Since then he has been an active part of rave culture in Southern California, as a dj, promoter and occasionally as a fan only, when tattoo projects require all his time.
Live sets from the Peacemaker usually include a variety of drum & bass styles, from the most atmospheric and jazzy tunes to chaotic jungle smashers. Typical sets will start by engaging the crowd with something intellgent and mature, and build in intensity to an inevitable rewind. Peacemaker lists Dj Dara, Dieselboy, Dj Die, Goldie, Brockie and others among his early style influences.
Far from being a primadonna dj, the Peacemaker is always down to promote, carry speakers, babysit the soundsystem, and take on extra duties that often arise at electronic music events.
The Peacemakers affiliations are Specialtechnique.net, ShadowZen, and Drumz San Diego.
